One pedestrian killed, one person severely injured near 8106 S RACINE AVE in Auburn Gresham

A pedestrian was killed and a driver was severely injured after a Tuesday morning angle collision in Auburn Gresham on September 28, 2021 at 9:50 AM.

The crash occurred near 8106 S RACINE AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2009 Chrysler 300M was heading west. The driver, a 26-year-old man, was uninjured; his airbag did not deploy.
• A 2009 Chevrolet Impala was heading north and was hit in the rear-right-corner. The police report described the driver, a 23-year-old woman, as failing to yield. Her airbag deployed from the front; she reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries. One other passenger was uninjured.

The police report described the pedestrian, a 52-year-old woman, as traveling with traffic and going too fast for conditions; she was killed.

Police were notified at 9:57 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,451st injurious crash reported in September 2021, and the 12,087th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 111th fatal crash for 2021.
