One person killed, and one other person injured near 2400 W IRVING PARK RD in North Center

A passenger was killed after a Sunday early morning hit-and-run angle collision in North Center on October 3, 2021 at 3:03 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 2400 W IRVING PARK RD, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was rainy, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2019 Toyota Camry was heading west. The police report described the driver, an unknown age person, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. The police report did not have additional details about the driver.
  • A 2017 Nissan Rogue was heading north and was hit in the side-right. The driver, a 27-year-old man, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A 37-year-old female passenger was killed; her airbag deployed.

There were two other vehicles involved but not being driven:

  • A 1999 Chevrolet C/K 2500, hit in the rear.
  • A 1999 Saab 95, hit in the rear.

Police were notified at 3:03 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 124th injurious crash reported in October 2021, and the 12,342nd injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 112th fatal crash for 2021.
