One person killed, and two other people injured near 2404 W JACKSON BLVD in United Center

A driver was killed after a Tuesday evening hit-and-run angle collision in United Center on May 27, 2025 at 8:27 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 2404 W JACKSON BLVD, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 35 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dusk, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding other traffic signs; and, secondarily, to disregarding traffic signals.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2021 Nissan Sentra was heading south. The police report described the driver, an unknown age male, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. His airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered unspecified injuries.
  • A 2025 Nissan Kicks was heading west and was hit in the side-right. The driver, a 79-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed. A 62-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed.

Police were notified at 8:30 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,373rd injurious crash reported in May 2025, and the 6,610th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 33rd fatal crash for 2025.
