One person killed, and one other person injured near 6498 S WELLS ST in Englewood

A passenger was killed after a Tuesday afternoon sideswipe same direction collision in Englewood on October 21, 2025 at 1:25 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 6498 S WELLS ST, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2025 Chevrolet Trax was heading south while slowing or stopping in traffic. The driver, a 66-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed from the front; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 63-year-old female passenger was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she was killed.
• A 2019 KIA Sorento was heading south while slowing or stopping in traffic and was hit in the front-right-corner. The driver, a 31-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag did not deploy; she was uninjured. One other passenger was uninjured.

Police were notified at 1:32 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,038th injurious crash reported in October 2025, and the 14,774th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 65th fatal crash for 2025.
