Two people killed near 7100 S STATE ST in Grand Crossing

A driver and a passenger were killed after a Thursday early morning hit-and-run angle collision in Grand Crossing on November 15, 2018 at 1:04 AM.

The crash occurred near 7100 S STATE ST, on a one-way road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2003 Ford Escape was heading east and was hit in the side-right. The driver, a 42-year-old man, was killed; his airbag did not deploy and he was trapped. A 35-year-old male passenger was killed; his airbag did not deploy and he was trapped.
