One person killed, and one other person injured near 1358 S KEELER AVE in North Lawndale

A passenger was killed after a Sunday afternoon angle collision in North Lawndale on February 21, 2021 at 12:10 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 1358 S KEELER AVE, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. The weather was clear and the roadway was snowy or slushy. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding a stop sign.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2005 Ford Escape was heading west. The police report described the driver, a 25-year-old man, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. His airbag deployed from the front; he was uninjured.
• A 2001 Honda Accord was heading north and was hit in the side-right. The police report described the driver, a 29-year-old woman, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. Her airbag deployed; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 30-year-old male passenger was killed; his airbag deployed and he was trapped.

Police were notified at 12:10 PM. This was the 646th injurious crash reported in February 2021, and the 1,648th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 11th fatal crash for 2021.
