One pedestrian killed near 3721 W 59TH ST in West Lawn
A pedestrian was killed after a Friday afternoon collision in West Lawn on August 17, 2018 at 12:41 PM.
The crash occurred near 3721 W 59TH ST, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to yield right of way; and, secondarily, to disregarding road markings.
A 2012 GMC Yukon was heading east and was hit in the front-right. The driver, a 16-year-old boy, was wearing a seat belt, his airbag did not deploy, and his vision was reportedly obscured by parked vehicles; he was uninjured. One other passenger was uninjured.
A 5-year-old boy (pedestrian) was killed.
