One person killed, one person severely injured, and two other people injured near 2558 W PETERSON AVE in West Ridge

A passenger was killed and a driver was severely injured after a Saturday morning head on collision in West Ridge on July 11, 2020 at 6:41 AM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 2558 W PETERSON AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 25 mph. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to improper lane usage.

• A 2008 Toyota Corolla was heading east while changing lanes. The police report described the driver, a 40-year-old man, as changing lanes improperly. His airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries. A 46-year-old female passenger was killed; her airbag deployed.
• A 2018 Chrysler Pacifica was heading west and was hit in the front. The driver, a 63-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 57-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
