One person killed, and one other person injured near 1701 N MASON AVE in Austin

A driver was killed after a Saturday early morning collision with a parked motor vehicle in Austin on August 4, 2018 at 12:57 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 1701 N MASON AVE, on a one-way road. The posted speed limit was 25 mph. There was a stop sign. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

A 2004 Chevrolet was heading south. The driver, a 22-year-old man, was killed. His passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

There were four other vehicles involved but not being driven:

• A 2007 Ford Ford-Truck,van,suv, ETC, hit in the rear.
• A 2011 Chevrolet Chevrolet-Truck,van,suv,etc, hit in the rear.
• A 1999 Toyota, hit in the rear.

Police were notified at 12:57 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 169th injurious crash reported in August 2018, and the 9,663rd injurious crash reported in 2018. It was the 66th fatal crash for 2018.
