One person killed near 7600 S PARNELL AVE in Grand Crossing

A driver was killed after a Friday evening head on collision in Grand Crossing on January 31, 2025 at 5:12 PM.

The crash occurred near 7600 S PARNELL AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to improper overtaking or passing.

There were three motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A Buick Century was heading east while passing another vehicle. The police report described the driver, a 30-year-old man, as going too fast for conditions. His airbag deployed; he was killed.
• A 2018 KIA Optima was heading west and was hit in the front. The driver, a 26-year-old man, was uninjured; his airbag did not deploy.
• A 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander was heading west and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 45-year-old man, was uninjured.

Police were notified at 5:14 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,272nd injurious crash reported in January 2025, and the 1,272nd injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 6th fatal crash for 2025.
