One person killed, one person severely injured near 6144 S KIMBARK AVE in Woodlawn

A driver was killed and a passenger was severely injured after a Sunday night sideswipe opposite direction collision in Woodlawn on April 30, 2023 at 10:28 PM.

The crash occurred near 6144 S KIMBARK AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 20 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading west. The driver, a 30-year-old man, was killed. A 22-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.
  • A 2022 Hyundai Santa FE was heading east and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was uninjured.
