Two people killed near 2000 N LAKE SHORE DR NB in Lincoln Park

Two drivers were killed after a Sunday early morning head on collision in Lincoln Park on September 11, 2022 at 2:29 AM.

The crash occurred near 2000 N LAKE SHORE DR NB, on a road divided by a median barrier. The posted speed limit was 40 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to traveling the wrong way or on the wrong side; and, secondarily, to reckless, careless, or aggressive driving.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2016 Hyundai Elantra was heading north. The police report described the driver, an unknown age person, as going the wrong way. They were killed.
  • A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu was heading south and was hit in the front. The driver, a 59-year-old man, was killed.

Police were notified at 2:29 AM. This was the 504th injurious crash reported in September 2022, and the 10,951st injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 91st fatal crash for 2022.
