A driver was killed after a Wednesday evening angle collision in Little Village on September 28, 2022 at 8:53 PM. 4 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash occurred near 3175 W 31ST ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals; and, secondarily, to reckless, careless, or aggressive driving.
There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:
- A 2018 Honda HR-V was heading east. The police report described the driver, a 17-year-old boy, as attempting to evade police. His airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 22-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A 16-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A 17-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed.
- A 2001 Toyota Corolla was heading north and was hit in the side-left. The driver, a 55-year-old woman, was killed; her airbag deployed from the front.
Police were notified at 8:55 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,380th injurious crash reported in September 2022, and the 11,827th injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 100th fatal crash for 2022.
