One pedestrian killed near 8220 S KEDZIE AVE in Ashburn

A pedestrian was killed after a Wednesday early morning hit-and-run collision in Ashburn on April 7, 2021 at 12:10 AM.

The crash occurred near 8220 S KEDZIE AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to improper lane usage; and, secondarily, to traveling the wrong way or on the wrong side.

A vehicle of unknown make was heading north. The police report described the driver, an unknown age person, as failing to yield. The police report did not have additional details about the driver.

A 32-year-old man (pedestrian) was using a light source; he was killed.

There was one other vehicle involved but not being driven: A 2005 Dodge, hit in the rear.

Police were notified at 12:14 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 307th injurious crash reported in April 2021, and the 3,244th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 22nd fatal crash for 2021.
