One pedestrian killed, one pedestrian severely injured near 9459 S ASHLAND AVE in Washington Heights

A pedestrian was killed and another pedestrian was severely injured after a Thursday evening hit-and-run collision in Washington Heights on December 29, 2022 at 6:40 PM.

The crash occurred near 9459 S ASHLAND AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to yield right of way.
