One person killed, one person severely injured near 4456 N CUMBERLAND AVE in O'Hare

A driver was killed and another driver was severely injured after a Tuesday morning rear to front collision in O'Hare on October 29, 2019 at 10:10 AM.

The crash occurred near 4456 N CUMBERLAND AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 35 mph. The weather was overcast and the roadway was wet. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2005 Toyota Solara was heading north while skidding or losing control. The driver, a 32-year-old woman, was not wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she was killed.
• A 2019 Honda CR-V was heading south. The driver, an 84-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed; she reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 10:14 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,363rd injurious crash reported in October 2019, and the 13,572nd injurious crash reported in 2019. It was the 87th fatal crash for 2019.
