One person killed near 2714 W AUGUSTA BLVD in Humboldt Park

A driver was killed after a Tuesday night collision with a parked motor vehicle in Humboldt Park on August 11, 2026 at 9:56 PM.

The crash occurred near 2714 W AUGUSTA BLVD, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to traveling the wrong way or on the wrong side; and, secondarily, to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

A 2009 Buick Lucerne was heading east. The driver, a 49-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed and he was trapped.

There were four other vehicles involved but not being driven:

• A bus of unknown make, hit in the front.
• A 2020 Infiniti QX50, hit in the front.
• A 2025 Mazda MAZDA3, hit in the rear.
• A 2017 Volkswagen Golf, hit in the rear-left-corner.

Police were notified at 9:56 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 547th injurious crash reported in August 2026, and the 11,170th injurious crash reported in 2026. It was the 59th fatal crash for 2026.
