One person killed, and one other person injured near 698 S LARAMIE AVE in Austin

A driver was killed after a Tuesday night hit-and-run angle collision in Austin on October 24, 2023 at 10:56 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 698 S LARAMIE AVE, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was rainy, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals.

There were three motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2002 Saturn SL was heading west and was hit in the side-left-front. The driver, a 22-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she was killed.
• A 2007 Toyota Camry was heading south and was hit in the front-right-corner. The driver, a 68-year-old woman, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed from the front.

Police were notified at 10:59 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,259th injurious crash reported in October 2023, and the 13,581st injurious crash reported in 2023. It was the 116th fatal crash for 2023.
