One person killed near 6100 S AUSTIN AVE in Clearing
A driver was killed after a Saturday afternoon angle collision in Clearing on July 29, 2023 at 12:06 PM.
The crash occurred near 6100 S AUSTIN AVE, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals; and, secondarily, to failing to yield right of way.
There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:
- A 1984 Honda Motorcycle was heading south. The police report described the driver, a 56-year-old man, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. He was not wearing a helmet and he was totally ejected; he was killed.
- A 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan was heading east and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 29-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag did not deploy; she was uninjured. One other passenger was uninjured.
Police were notified at 12:07 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,456th injurious crash reported in July 2023, and the 9,121st injurious crash reported in 2023. It was the 81st fatal crash for 2023.
