Two people killed, one person severely injured, and two other people injured near 1845 E HAYES DR in Jackson Park

A passenger and a driver were killed; and another driver was severely injured after a Sunday early morning head on collision in Jackson Park on June 28, 2026 at 12:03 AM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 1845 E HAYES DR, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to traveling the wrong way or on the wrong side; and, secondarily, to failing to yield right of way.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2014 BMW 528I was heading west while passing another vehicle. The police report described the driver, a 24-year-old man, as going the wrong way. He was not wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries. A 26-year-old female passenger was not wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed; she was killed. A 24-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A 25-year-old passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; their airbag deployed.
• A 2014 Chevrolet Malibu was heading east and was hit in the front. The driver, an unknown age male, was killed; his airbag deployed.

Police were notified at 12:06 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,578th injurious crash reported in June 2026, and the 8,690th injurious crash reported in 2026. It was the 44th fatal crash for 2026.
