The police report attributed the cause of the crash to traveling the wrong way or on the wrong side; and, secondarily, to failing to yield right of way.

  • A 2014 BMW 528I was heading west while passing another vehicle. The police report described the driver, a 24-year-old man, as going the wrong way. He was not wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries. A 26-year-old female passenger was not wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed; she was killed. A 24-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A 25-year-old passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; their airbag deployed.
  • A 2014 Chevrolet Malibu was heading east and was hit in the front. The driver, an unknown age male, was killed; his airbag deployed.

Police were notified at 12:06 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,578th injurious crash reported in June 2026, and the 8,690th injurious crash reported in 2026. It was the 44th fatal crash for 2026.
