One person killed, and one other person injured near 10000 W OHARE ST in O'Hare
A driver was killed after a Sunday early morning angle collision in O'Hare on April 25, 2021 at 4:00 AM.
The crash occurred near 10000 W OHARE ST, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 45 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (an arrest was made); and, secondarily, to inadequate driving skill, knowledge, or experience.
There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:
- A 2017 Chevrolet Trax was heading north. The police report described the driver, a 27-year-old man, as attempting to evade police and being under the influence of alcohol. He was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered unspecified injuries.
- A 2012 Ford Escape was heading west and was hit in the side-left. The driver, a 46-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt, his airbag deployed, and was totally ejected; he was killed.
Police were notified at 4:00 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,011th injurious crash reported in April 2021, and the 3,948th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 26th fatal crash for 2021.
