One pedestrian killed near 351 E 103RD ST in Roseland

A pedestrian was killed after a Tuesday afternoon hit-and-run collision in Roseland on October 18, 2022 at 3:20 PM.

The crash occurred near 351 E 103RD ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to yield right of way; and, secondarily, to disregarding other traffic signs.

There were three motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2012 Dodge Challenger was heading north. The police report described the driver, an unknown age male, as failing to yield. The police report did not have additional details about the driver.
  • A 2006 NEW Flyer DE60LFR operated by the CTA was heading east and was hit in the front. The driver, a 56-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt; he was uninjured.
  • A 2019 Chevrolet SSR was heading north and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 32-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt; he was uninjured.

The police report described the pedestrian, a 22-year-old man, as crossing with the signal; he was killed.

There was one other vehicle involved but not being driven: A 2016 Nissan Murano, hit in the front.

Police were notified at 3:20 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 845th injurious crash reported in October 2022, and the 12,796th injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 106th fatal crash for 2022.
