One person killed, two people severely injured, and one other person injured near 3800 W LAKE ST in Garfield Park

A passenger was killed and two other passengers were severely injured after a Sunday early morning angle collision in Garfield Park on July 27, 2025 at 3:50 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 3800 W LAKE ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2013 Ford was heading east. The police report described the driver, a 20-year-old man, as disregarding traffic controls/signals and being emotional. His airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 22-year-old male passenger was killed; his airbag deployed. A 20-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A 20-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed.
• A 2014 Chevrolet was heading south and was hit in the front. The driver, a 37-year-old woman, was uninjured; her airbag deployed from the front. One other passenger was uninjured.

Police were notified at 3:50 AM. This was the 1,397th injurious crash reported in July 2025, and the 9,915th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 46th fatal crash for 2025.
