Two people killed, one person severely injured, and two other people injured near 4700 S STATE ST in Grand Boulevard

Two passengers were killed and another passenger was severely injured after a Sunday night collision with a fixed object in Grand Boulevard on June 28, 2026 at 11:50 PM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 4700 S STATE ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to improper lane usage; and, secondarily, to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (an arrest was made).

A 2022 Tesla Model Y was heading east while changing lanes. The police report described the driver, a 28-year-old man, as being under the influence of alcohol. His airbag deployed; he was uninjured. A 25-year-old male passenger was killed; his airbag deployed. A 22-year-old female passenger was killed; her airbag deployed. A 21-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed and she was trapped. A 23-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed. A 17-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed. One other passenger was uninjured.

Police were notified at 11:51 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,629th injurious crash reported in June 2026, and the 8,741st injurious crash reported in 2026. It was the 45th fatal crash for 2026.
