One person killed near 9035 S HALSTED ST in Auburn Gresham

A driver was killed after a Friday night angle collision in Auburn Gresham on June 27, 2025 at 11:42 PM.

The crash occurred near 9035 S HALSTED ST, on a road divided by a median barrier. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash; and, secondarily, to improper overtaking or passing.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 1998 Honda was heading north. The police report described the driver, a 54-year-old man, as failing to yield. He was wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet and he was totally ejected; he was killed.
  • A 2015 Freightliner was heading southeast while backing up and was hit in the rear. The driver, a 28-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag did not deploy; he was uninjured.

Police were notified at 11:43 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,508th injurious crash reported in June 2025, and the 8,339th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 38th fatal crash for 2025.
