One pedestrian killed near 5900 S ASHLAND AVE in Englewood

A pedestrian was killed after a Sunday early morning hit-and-run collision in Englewood on November 14, 2021 at 3:53 AM.

The crash occurred near 5900 S ASHLAND AVE, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was snowy, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash; and, secondarily, to inadequate driving skill, knowledge, or experience.
