One person killed near 100 N WESTERN AVE in United Center

A driver was killed after a Friday night angle collision in United Center on May 7, 2021 at 9:35 PM.

The crash occurred near 100 N WESTERN AVE, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2021 (homemade Motorcycle, Moped.etc.) was heading south. The police report described the driver, a 25-year-old man, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. He was not wearing a helmet and he was totally ejected; he was killed.
  • A 2017 Jeep Compass was heading west and was hit in the front. The driver, a 24-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt; she was uninjured.

Police were notified at 9:35 PM. This was the 359th injurious crash reported in May 2021, and the 4,576th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 31st fatal crash for 2021.
