One person killed, and 14 other people injured near 6001 S STATE ST in Washington Park
A driver was killed after a Wednesday evening angle collision in Washington Park on November 20, 2024 at 6:59 PM. 13 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash occurred near 6001 S STATE ST, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. - A 2015 Nova BUS LFS operated by the CTA was heading south while slowing or stopping in traffic and was hit in the front. The driver, a 59-year-old man, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag did not deploy. A 32-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag did not deploy. A 9-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag did not deploy. A 26-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag did not deploy. A 45-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag did not deploy. A 49-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag did not deploy. An unknown age female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag did not deploy. A 35-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag did not deploy. A 41-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag did not deploy. A 45-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag did not deploy.
Police were notified at 7:00 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 978th injurious crash reported in November 2024, and the 16,679th injurious crash reported in 2024. It was the 104th fatal crash for 2024.
