One person killed, and two other people injured near 7600 W FOREST PRESERVE AVE in Dunning

A passenger was killed after a Thursday evening turning collision in Dunning on December 30, 2021 at 6:25 PM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 7600 W FOREST PRESERVE AVE, on a road divided by a median barrier. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2005 Honda Civic was heading west while turning left. The driver, a 69-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 73-year-old female passenger was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed; she was killed.
• A 2013 Ford Focus was heading east and was hit in the front. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 6:28 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,206th injurious crash reported in December 2021, and the 16,288th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 155th fatal crash for 2021.
