One person killed, one person severely injured near 328 W 127TH ST in West Pullman
A passenger was killed and a driver was severely injured after a Saturday afternoon turning collision in West Pullman on June 26, 2021 at 12:10 PM.
The crash occurred near 328 W 127TH ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. The weather was rainy and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to an improper turn or failure to signal; and, secondarily, to the weather.
There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:
- A 2008 Saturn was heading northeast while turning left. The driver, a 21-year-old man, reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A 21-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he was killed.
- A semi-truck of unknown make was heading west and was hit in the front. The driver, a 41-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag did not deploy; he was uninjured.
Police were notified at 12:10 PM. This was the 1,451st injurious crash reported in June 2021, and the 7,159th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 59th fatal crash for 2021.
