One person killed, and one other person injured near 13227 S TORRENCE AVE in Hegewisch

A driver was killed after a Saturday early morning turning collision in Hegewisch on June 14, 2025 at 2:30 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 13227 S TORRENCE AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 40 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to an improper turn or failure to signal; and, secondarily, to inadequate driving skill, knowledge, or experience.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2025 Ford Explorer was heading south while turning left. The police report described the driver, a 60-year-old woman, as attempting an improper turn. Her airbag deployed; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
  • A 2005 Suzuki was heading north and was hit in the front. The driver, a 32-year-old man, was wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet; he was killed.

Police were notified at 2:30 AM. This was the 743rd injurious crash reported in June 2025, and the 7,574th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 35th fatal crash for 2025.
