Two people injured near 806 E 76TH ST in Grand Crossing

A head on collision occurred on Sunday early morning, September 28, 2025 at 1:20 AM in Grand Crossing. One person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 806 E 76TH ST, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to traveling the wrong way or on the wrong side; and, secondarily, to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading west. The police report described the driver, a 38-year-old man, as going the wrong way. His airbag did not deploy; he reportedly suffered unspecified injuries.
• A 2017 Ford Explorer operated by police was heading east and was hit in the front. The driver, a 48-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 1:23 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,477th injurious crash reported in September 2025, and the 13,578th injurious crash reported in 2025.
