One cyclist injured near 4599 N LINCOLN AVE in Lincoln Square

A collision with a cyclist occurred on Tuesday afternoon, May 10, 2022 at 3:16 PM in Lincoln Square. One person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 4599 N LINCOLN AVE, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to an improper turn or failure to signal; and, secondarily, to failing to yield right of way.

A Buick Encore operated by a rideshare service was heading southeast and was hit in the front. The driver, a 29-year-old man, was uninjured; his airbag did not deploy.

A 62-year-old man (cyclist) was not wearing a helmet. The police report described him as turning left and attempting an improper turn; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 3:16 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 460th injurious crash reported in May 2022, and the 4,926th injurious crash reported in 2022.
