One person killed, and three other people injured near 3900 S STATE ST in Grand Boulevard
A driver was killed after a Sunday early morning hit-and-run angle collision in Grand Boulevard on June 20, 2021 at 1:15 AM. 3 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash occurred near 3900 S STATE ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals; and, secondarily, to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:
- A 2015 Chevrolet Impala was heading south. The police report described the driver, an unknown age male, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. The police report did not have additional details about the driver. His passenger, an unknown age male, was uninjured.
- A 2004 Chevrolet was heading east and was hit in the side-left. The driver, an unknown age female, was killed; her airbag deployed and she was trapped. A 41-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A 12-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A baby male passenger was in a child restraint; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
Police were notified at 1:18 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,100th injurious crash reported in June 2021, and the 6,808th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 54th fatal crash for 2021.
