One pedestrian killed near 3415 N LAKE SHORE DR NB in Lake View

A pedestrian was killed after a Friday night hit-and-run collision in Lake View on April 21, 2023 at 10:50 PM.

The crash occurred near 3415 N LAKE SHORE DR NB, on a road divided by a median barrier. The posted speed limit was 40 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to improper lane usage; and, secondarily, to road construction/maintenance.

A 2004 Volvo was heading north while passing another vehicle. The police report described the driver, a 48-year-old woman, as attempting to pass improperly. She was uninjured.

A 45-year-old man (pedestrian) was wearing reflective material. The police report described him as working in the roadway; he was killed.
