One person killed, and one other person injured near 3703 W MARQUETTE RD in West Lawn

A driver was killed after a Wednesday night sideswipe same direction collision in West Lawn on December 21, 2022 at 11:40 PM.

The crash occurred near 3703 W MARQUETTE RD, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to following too closely.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2003 Ford Excursion was heading east. The driver, a 35-year-old man, reportedly suffered unspecified injuries; his airbag deployed from the front.
  • A 2016 Dodge Charger was heading east and was hit in the total (all areas). The driver, a 25-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed. One other passenger was uninjured.

Police were notified at 11:40 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 905th injurious crash reported in December 2022, and the 15,670th injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 132nd fatal crash for 2022.
