One pedestrian killed, four pedestrians severely injured near 4741 W FULLERTON AVE in Belmont Cragin

A pedestrian was killed and four other pedestrians were severely injured after a Saturday afternoon collision in Belmont Cragin on August 31, 2019 at 3:41 PM.

The crash occurred near 4741 W FULLERTON AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to reckless, careless, or aggressive driving; and, secondarily, to improper lane usage.

A 2013 Ford Edge was heading east while changing lanes. The police report described the driver, a 34-year-old man, as changing lanes improperly. His airbag deployed from the front; he was uninjured.

An 81-year-old woman (pedestrian) was off the roadway; she was killed.

A 64-year-old woman (pedestrian) was off the roadway; she reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.

A 76-year-old woman (pedestrian) was off the roadway; she reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.

An 86-year-old woman (pedestrian) was off the roadway; she reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.

A 60-year-old man (pedestrian) was off the roadway; he reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 3:43 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,499th injurious crash reported in August 2019, and the 10,691st injurious crash reported in 2019. It was the 67th fatal crash for 2019.
