One person killed, and five other people injured near 500 N HOMAN AVE in Humboldt Park

A passenger was killed after a Thursday afternoon angle collision in Humboldt Park on June 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM. 5 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 500 N HOMAN AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to reckless, careless, or aggressive driving.

There were four motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2006 BMW 5 Series was heading east. The police report did not have details about the male driver.
  • A 2019 Toyota RAV4 was heading south and was hit in the side-right-rear. The driver, a 31-year-old man, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed from the front. A 39-year-old female passenger was killed; her airbag deployed from the side.
  • A 2000 Chevrolet Express was heading north and was hit in the side-left-rear. The driver, a 41-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag did not deploy; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. His three passengers reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
  • A 2004 Lexus GX470 was heading north and was hit in the side-left-rear. The driver, a 48-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt; he was uninjured. One other passenger was uninjured.

Police were notified at 2:00 PM. This was the 115th injurious crash reported in June 2021, and the 5,823rd injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 48th fatal crash for 2021.
