One person killed, and one other person injured near 6602 N SHERIDAN RD in Rogers Park

A driver was killed after a Sunday night turning collision in Rogers Park on June 2, 2024 at 10:34 PM.

The crash occurred near 6602 N SHERIDAN RD, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to an improper turn or failure to signal.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2018 Ford Escape was heading south while turning left. The police report described the driver, a 46-year-old man, as attempting an improper turn. His airbag deployed from the side; he was uninjured. A 24-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered unspecified injuries; her airbag deployed from the side.
  • A 2016 BMW was heading south and was hit in the front. The driver, a 40-year-old man, was wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet and was totally ejected; he was killed.
