One person killed, and one other person injured near 6105 S ST LAWRENCE AVE in Woodlawn

A driver was killed after a Thursday night collision with a parked motor vehicle in Woodlawn on January 21, 2021 at 11:20 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 6105 S ST LAWRENCE AVE, on a one-way road. The posted speed limit was 25 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was snowy, and the roadway was snowy or slushy. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to a driver's physical condition.

A 2003 Chevrolet Impala was heading north and was hit in the front. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was killed; his airbag did not deploy. His passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

An unknown age male (pedestrian) was on a driveway access. The police report described him as entering from a driveway or alley; he was uninjured.

There were two other vehicles involved but not being driven:

• A 2004 Toyota, hit in the side-left.
• A 2008 Ford Focus, hit in the rear.

Police were notified at 11:28 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 690th injurious crash reported in January 2021, and the 690th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 8th fatal crash for 2021.
