Two people injured, including 1 cyclist near 3606 N CLARK ST in Wrigleyville

A sideswipe same direction collision occurred on Sunday early morning, June 11, 2023 at 12:16 AM in Wrigleyville. One person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 3606 N CLARK ST, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (an arrest was made); and, secondarily, to improper overtaking or passing.

There were three motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 1989 GMC was heading southeast. The police report described the driver, a 40-year-old man, as attempting an improper turn and being under the influence of alcohol. His airbag did not deploy; he was uninjured.
• A 2015 Chevrolet Malibu was heading southeast and was hit in the side-left-rear. The driver, a 29-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag did not deploy; she was uninjured. A 21-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag did not deploy; he reportedly suffered unspecified injuries. One other passenger was uninjured.
• A 2012 Toyota Prius was heading southeast and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 35-year-old man, was uninjured.

A 43-year-old woman (cyclist) was not wearing a helmet, using a light source, and she was totally ejected. The police report described her as standing in the roadway; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 12:16 AM. This was the 529th injurious crash reported in June 2023, and the 6,726th injurious crash reported in 2023.
