A driver was killed after a Friday evening collision with a fixed object in Washington Park on July 20, 2018 at 8:26 PM.

The crash occurred near 5314 S PAYNE DR, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was rainy, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to exceeding a safe speed for conditions; and, secondarily, to the weather.
