One person killed, and one other person injured near 2303 S BLUE ISLAND AVE in Lower West Side

A driver was killed after a Sunday early morning rear end collision in Lower West Side on February 8, 2026 at 4:17 AM.

The crash occurred near 2303 S BLUE ISLAND AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was overcast, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:
