One cyclist killed near 7430 S ASHLAND AVE in Englewood

A cyclist was killed after a Wednesday evening collision in Englewood on July 16, 2025 at 5:50 PM.

The crash occurred near 7430 S ASHLAND AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. The weather was overcast and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to obscured vision.

A 2013 GMC Sierra was heading south and was hit in the front-right-corner. The driver, a 45-year-old man, was uninjured; his airbag did not deploy and his vision was reportedly obscured by moving vehicles.

A 48-year-old man (cyclist) was not wearing a helmet and he was totally ejected. The police report described him as crossing the roadway where there were no traffic controls and changing lanes improperly; he was killed.

Police were notified at 5:50 PM. This was the 838th injurious crash reported in July 2025, and the 9,356th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 43rd fatal crash for 2025.
