One person killed near 300 E WACKER SUB DR in The Loop

A driver was killed after a Wednesday night hit-and-run angle collision in The Loop on December 2, 2020 at 11:44 PM.

The crash occurred near 300 E WACKER SUB DR, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2011 Buick was heading west. The police report described the driver, a 20-year-old man, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. The police report did not have additional details about the driver, or his passenger.
• A 2004 Honda Civic was heading south and was hit in the side-left. The driver, a 70-year-old woman, was killed; her airbag deployed from the front.

Police were notified at 11:44 PM. This was the 62nd injurious crash reported in December 2020, and the 13,221st injurious crash reported in 2020. It was the 124th fatal crash for 2020.
