One person killed, and two other people injured near 3201 N CUMBERLAND AVE in O'Hare

A driver was killed after a Friday early morning angle collision in O'Hare on July 4, 2025 at 2:10 AM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 3201 N CUMBERLAND AVE, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals; and, secondarily, to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2019 Chevrolet Corvette was heading west. The police report described the driver, an unknown age person, as failing to yield. Their airbag deployed from the front and they were totally ejected; they were killed. A 16-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed from the front. One other passenger was uninjured.
  • A 2023 Honda Pilot was heading north and was hit in the front-right-corner. The driver, a 30-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 2:10 AM. This was the 168th injurious crash reported in July 2025, and the 8,686th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 39th fatal crash for 2025.
