One person killed, one person severely injured, and one other person injured near 1430 W ADDISON ST in Lake View

A driver was killed and a passenger was severely injured after a Wednesday afternoon sideswipe same direction collision in Lake View on May 26, 2021 at 1:10 PM.

The crash occurred near 1430 W ADDISON ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were five motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2004 Porsche Cayenne was heading west. The driver, a 52-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed from the front.
• A 1998 Chevrolet Blazer was heading west and was hit in the side-left. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he was uninjured. An unknown age passenger reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.
• A 2017 Freightliner was heading east and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 39-year-old man, reportedly suffered unspecified injuries.
• A 2010 Land Rover LR3 was heading west and was hit in the rear-left-corner. The driver, a 50-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt; she was uninjured.
• A 2012 Honda Accord was heading east and was hit in the front. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed from the front; he was uninjured.

There were two other vehicles involved but not being driven:

• A 2007 Suzuki SX4, hit in the side-left-rear.
• A Honda Pilot, hit in the front.

Police were notified at 1:10 PM. This was the 1,238th injurious crash reported in May 2021, and the 5,455th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 42nd fatal crash for 2021.
