One person killed, and two other people injured, including 1 pedestrian near 7500 S YATES BLVD in South Shore

A driver was killed after a Wednesday morning hit-and-run angle collision in South Shore on April 23, 2025 at 6:12 AM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 7500 S YATES BLVD, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 35 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dawn, the weather was rainy, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2009 Honda CR-V was heading north. The police report described the driver, a 56-year-old man, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. His airbag deployed; he was killed. A 50-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed.
  • A 2018 Infiniti Q50 was heading east and was hit in the front. The police report did not have details about the male driver, or his two passengers.

A 37-year-old woman (pedestrian) was off the roadway; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 6:14 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 983rd injurious crash reported in April 2025, and the 4,807th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 24th fatal crash for 2025.
