One person killed, and two other people injured near 1000 N LAKE SHORE DR NB in Gold Coast

A driver was killed after a Monday early morning collision with a fixed object in Gold Coast on April 29, 2019 at 2:08 AM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 1000 N LAKE SHORE DR NB, on a road divided by a median barrier. The posted speed limit was 25 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was overcast, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to reckless, careless, or aggressive driving; and, secondarily, to driving after drinking (no arrest was made).

A 2011 Cadillac CTS was heading north while negotiating a curve. The police report described the driver, a 34-year-old man, as going too fast for conditions and having been drinking. He was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he was killed. A 37-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 35-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 2:10 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,161st injurious crash reported in April 2019, and the 4,524th injurious crash reported in 2019. It was the 28th fatal crash for 2019.
