Two people killed near 4768 S ARCHER AVE in Archer Heights

A driver and a passenger were killed after a Sunday early morning angle collision in Archer Heights on October 11, 2020 at 4:20 AM.

The crash occurred near 4768 S ARCHER AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals.

  • A 2008 Ford Escape was heading north and was hit in the total (all areas). The driver, an unknown age female, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed; she was uninjured.
  • A 2017 Ford Focus was heading northeast. The police report described the driver, a 23-year-old man, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. He was wearing a seat belt; he was uninjured.

Police were notified at 4:20 AM. This was the 469th injurious crash reported in October 2020, and the 11,255th injurious crash reported in 2020. It was the 106th fatal crash for 2020.
